These two years have flown! It doesn’t seem like that long ago that we were going on our first outing with Navarus.

Navarus is open to doing lots of different kinds of things. We usually get together once a week for a meal and some kind of activity. Sometimes we do things outside, like hiking, canoeing, or roller blading. We had a great time at the Minnesota State Fair this year, that was probably a highlight. Sometimes we go to museums. This year we visited the Science Museum, the Minnesota History Museum, and the Minneapolis Institute of Art. You might not expect a 10-year-old boy to enjoy spending an afternoon at a museum, but Navarus does! He is very observant and helps us to see things we might not have noticed, like tiny details in a painting, or nearly invisible little frogs on a hiking trail.

Sometimes we just spend a quiet afternoon at our house, doing puzzles, drawing, baking, or playing ball. We also enjoy preparing meals together.

I’m sure that many people find that they get back more than they give by mentoring a child. I think our time with Navarus falls in that category. He gives us a reason to get out and have adventures, and he helps us to see things through a child’s eyes. We feel so lucky to have the chance to spend time with Navarus, and we are grateful to all of you for bringing us together and helping to make this match work.

Thanks!
Sara and Andy
