On Friday, June 27, MENTOR Minnesota hosted an inaugural celebration to recognize incredible individuals and programs that support mentoring in Minnesota. Lauren Lupkowski, a Pen Pal and alumni mentor of two previous mentoring connections with Kids ‘n Kinship, won an award and gave an inspiring message to those in attendance. Lauren mentored Kenyatta Lyles as a community mentor for more than nine years before she became a Pen Pal in the Kids ‘n Kinship program. In addition to mentoring, Lauren has served on various fundraising committees for Kids ‘n Kinship, lending her wisdom and experience as a mentor as well as her event expertise to the program. For many years, Lauren and her previous mentee also collected and distributed donations and items for a free store resource the program offered in past quarterly events.
