Regarding this study, Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom commented:

“This comprehensive analysis of early intervention and mentoring programs for at-risk youth confirms what I have long believed:  There is not a sounder investment of tax dollars available to reduce crime and promote achievement than funding efforts of this nature. Investing in our kids through programs such as youth mentoring … keeps our communities safer and promotes future success of our children.”

Kids ‘n Kinship is a quality-mentoring program, adhering to National Kinship Standards

2020 year-end statistics show that of the youth matched with a mentor in our program experienced the following results:

  • Result 1:  95% of the youth are reducing their experience of isolation through consistent visits with their volunteer with whom they are learning new skills, physical activities and hobbies.
  • Result 2:  99% of the youth have established a positive relationship with their adult mentor.
  • Result 3:  96% reported no serious incidences or behavior during the time they were matched with a mentor or a reduction of risky behavior.

This is awesome prevention!
